St. Louis composers celebrate Sun Ra’s 99th birthday with signature works performed by the Trinity Piano Trio, comprised of Manuela Kaymakanova (violin), Tracy Andreotti (cello), and Amanda Kirkpatrick (piano).

Area composers have produced original works inspired by the life and music of Sun Ra. The concert features compositions by Eric Hall, Adam Maness (arranger and pianist with Erin Bode), Robert Wykes, Serban Nichifor, Tracy Andreotti and Fred Tompkins who composed variations on the Sun Ra melody Space is the Place. Sun Ra compositions arranged by James Hegarty will also be performed.

The program also features original works by St. Louis composers including “9 Miniatures for piano trio” by Robert Wykes (one of the founding members of the New Music Circle), “Trio Without Minuet” by Michael Hunt, and “Finding Space” by Tracy Andreotti.
